In
2001, T Bailey, Inc. (www.tbailey.com)
a Pacific Northwest heavy civil/industrial general contractor with
extensive experience in heavy steel plate fabrication entered the
wind turbine tower market at its headquarter location in Anacortes,
Washington.
In 2007, as
Katana Industries continued to gain market share in the industry,
they were approached by several potential partners interested in
expanding the company and its manufacturing facilities. This led
to the launch of Katana Summit LLC, a joint venture between Katana
Industries, Sumitomo Corporation of America and SC Steel Investment,
LLC.
In 2007 ground
was broken on a new manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters
in Columbus, NE. This state of the art facility began production
in June of 2008 with a capacity of 200 towers per year. Demand for
wind turbine towers continues to increase dramatically, and Katana
Summit has begun plans to double the Columbus capacity by early
2009.
Katana Summit has 150
employees in each of its plants with an additional 25 corporate
staff operating from Nebraska.
